Several minor earthquakes have been recorded across the western portions of Isabela, Mountain Province, and Ifugao since Sunday, 1 June, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

As of Wednesday morning, Phivolcs reported at least 435 minor tremors, 135 of which were plotted. The earthquakes had magnitudes ranging from 1.2 to 3.6 and occurred at depths between 2 and 39 kilometers. Most of the quakes were too weak to be felt by residents.

Phivolcs assured the public it is closely monitoring the seismic activity and encouraged citizens to stay informed through the agency’s official website and social media channels.

In a phone interview, Phivolcs Science Research Analyst Paulo Sawi said the tremors are linked to a local fault line.

“We are still checking which fault line is involved, looking into the trend of this local fault,” Sawi said.

He emphasized there is no cause for alarm but reminded residents to stay prepared and practice safety protocols such as the "duck, cover, and hold" procedure during earthquakes.

In response to the activity, Acting Mayor Nick Sebastian of Roxas, Isabela suspended work in government offices on Tuesday afternoon as a precaution. However, emergency frontliners were instructed to remain on alert in case of any emergency situation.
