  2. ARMY is counting down the days as the “Kings of K-pop” are almost back.

All seven members of BTS, the world’s biggest K-pop boy group, are scheduled to complete their mandatory military service this month, paving the way for a historic reunion with fans calling it “BTS Month.”

This marks the group’s first full return to the public since halting group activities in 2022.

Official reports state that Jimin and Jungkook will be discharged on 11 June, following RM and V, who will be released on 10 June. Suga, who began his alternative service later than the others, will be the last to finish, with his discharge expected on 21 June.

With this long-awaited milestone, BTS will formally conclude their military chapter by the end of the month, setting the stage for what fans and industry insiders expect to be one of the most memorable and significant comebacks in K-pop.

Jin, the eldest member, was the first to enlist and was discharged in June 2023, followed by J-Hope, who completed his service in October 2024. Both have gradually resumed public appearances, further fueling anticipation for a full-group return.

12th anniversary

Taking place every June to commemorate BTS’s debut on 13 June 2013, BTS FESTA, an annual festival that unites the megastar group and its global fan base ARMY, began Sunday with a mix of online and offline celebrations.

The event last year took place at Jamsil Indoor Stadium and featured a fan meeting with Jin, who had recently finished his military service. The massive 10th-anniversary event in 2023 took place in Seoul’s Yeouido Hangang Park.

This year, BigHit Music, a HYBE Labels subsidiary and BTS’ agency, said the event has grown in scope and diversity.

The band’s official social media channel announced on Sunday that this year’s offline BTS FESTA will take place at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on 13 to 14 June. The event will feature more than 20 booths spread across two exhibition halls.

The “ARMY Bomb Photo Spot,” which will be the focal point of the event, will have a coordinated lighting show and a gigantic replica of BTS’ official light stick. Additional exhibition spaces include the “Trophy Zone,” which showcases BTS’s musical accomplishments; the “Voice Zone,” where fans may hear voice messages from BTS members; and the “BTS Locker,” which displays the artists’ personal belongings.

A range of experiences will enhance the enjoyment. Fans may color in the album artwork at the “Coloring Wall,” create pin buttons and sachets in the “DIY Zone,” and listen to BTS-curated music in the “Spotify Playlist” zone. Additionally, numerous sponsor booths will offer free goods.

The group’s most recent performance was the Yet to Come in Busan gig in October of that year, while their most recent album release as a whole was the 2022 anthology album Proof.

Although fans are excited for a full-group reunion, industry insiders predict that a new album won’t be released right away because of the time required for production and post-discharge changes.
