Malacañang on Monday said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the grant of an additional P1,000 in election honoraria for teachers and other poll workers who served in the 2025 midterm elections.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro said the amount is on top of the P2,000 across-the-board increase in election allowances also mandated by the President.

“Alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., dinagdagan pa ng Department of Budget and Management ng isang libong piso ang election honorarium ng mga guro at poll workers (In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Department of Budget and Management has added one thousand pesos to the election honorarium of teachers and poll workers)," Castro said.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is directed to set new honoraria rates for members of the Electoral Board: P13,000 for the chairperson, P12,000 each for the poll clerk and third member, and P9,000 for support staff.

The updated honoraria rates for volunteer staff members from the Department of Education (DepEd) are as follows: P12,000 for supervisors, P9,000 for their administrative support staff, and P10,000 for their technical support staff.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported that nearly 760,000 poll workers across the country rendered their services during the May 12 elections.

Malacañang commended these election workers for staying until the early hours of the following day to safeguard the electoral process and ensure the accurate counting of votes.

“Saludo po kami sa inyong dedikasyon (We salute your dedication)," said Castro.
