NAPOLCOM vows accountability after arrest of police officer in Pangasinan drug raid

The National Police Commission Regional Office 1 (NAPOLCOM RO1) has reaffirmed its commitment to holding erring police personnel accountable following the arrest of an active-duty police officer during an anti-drug operation in Mapandan, Pangasinan, on 3 November.
The police officer, who holds the rank of Police Chief Master Sergeant, was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant in a joint operation involving the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1, various units of the Police Regional Office 1, and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.
Authorities seized 812.8 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of P5,527,040, along with unlicensed firearms.
In a statement, NAPOLCOM RO1 said it immediately coordinated with PDEA Region 1 following the incident to initiate appropriate administrative proceedings against the arrested police officer.
NAPOLCOM RO1 Regional Director Atty. George Aplas D. Daskeo assured the public that the commission remains committed to enforcing discipline and upholding integrity within the Philippine National Police (PNP).
He reiterated the commission's position that while it supports police personnel in performing their duties, it will not tolerate misconduct within the organization.
“Tulad ng sinabi ng aming Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer, Atty. Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan, ang NAPOLCOM ay kakampi ng pulis ngunit hindi kunsintidor. We stand with our police, but we are the first to correct them,” Daskeo said.
The commission said it would continue exercising its oversight functions to ensure police personnel are held accountable for violations of existing laws, rules, and regulations.
