Discayas extend help to Pasigueños anew

Sarah Discaya, who recently ran for Pasig City mayor, posted a heartfelt birthday message Thursday for her husband, Curlee Discaya, who is celebrating his 50th birthday.

According to Sarah Discaya’s Facebook post, her husband requested that instead of a large birthday celebration, the funds be used to help others.

“Happy Birthday, Curlee — my love, ally, and partner,” Sarah Discaya wrote. “Of the many requests you can make, you have only chosen one: ‘Don’t hold a lavish party for me — let’s use it to help others.’”

She said this request highlighted her husband’s generosity.

“You didn’t want the celebration for yourself — you choose to be a blessing to others on the day of your birth. And now, I will fulfill your wish,” she added.

Sarah Discaya said her husband’s only wish was to continue assisting others, particularly the less fortunate, through medical missions and other charitable endeavors.

“We will continue to help, giving hope, and make other people smile — particularly the poor and needy,” she said. “Because for you, true happiness can be attained through giving.”

Instead of an extravagant party, Curlee Discaya reportedly distributed packs of rice and cash to needy residents of Pasig City. He served a simple meal of pancit bihon and pork barbecue to his employees.

“Instead of preparing a grand celebration for me, I preferred to give to our more needy countrymen,” Curlee Discaya was quoted as saying.
