The Sandbox Collective has just revealed the lead cast of its newest production, "Sideshow." Set in the 1930s, the musical follows the life and times of real-life conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, who rose to fame and notoriety while performing on the vaudeville circuit, where they were often showcased as oddities.
Staging a complex and emotionally charged production like "Sideshow" demands a cast of seasoned theater performers who can portray their characters with both depth and empathy. Alternating as the conjoined twins in fixed pairs are "Miss Saigon" alum Tanya Manalang (Violet) and Gawad Buhay nominee Marynor Madamesila (Daisy), as well as multi-talented actress Krystal Kane (Violet) and "The Clash" finalist Molly Langley (Daisy).
Veteran actor, comedian, and host Jon Santos joins the cast as "The Boss." The role of Terry Connor will be shared by Gawad Buhay awardee Reb Atadero and TV actor-turned-thespian CJ Navato. Vien King, last seen in 9Works’ "Liwanag sa Dilim," will alternate with singer Tim Pavino as Buddy Foster. The role of Jake will be played by singer-songwriter Marvin Ong and singer-actor Joshua Cabiladas.
Joining the cast as part of the ensemble are Fay Castro, Rhap Salazar, Pamela Imperial, Reine Paisley, Daniel Wesley, Ian Hermogenes, and Mikee Baskiños.
"Sideshow" is directed by Toff de Venecia, with musical direction by Ejay Yatco. The production opens on 25 July at the Power Mac Spotlight Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati. Ticket details will be announced soon — follow The Sandbox Collective on social media for updates.
