TABANGO, Leyte — Three supporters of a mayoral candidate were hurt when the van they were riding was ambushed by three men on Friday around 5:45 p.m. in Barangay Manlawaan.
Tabango municipal police chief PCapt. Anthony-Re Amora said the van was travelling from Barangay Gimarco going to the town proper when three men opened fire on the vehicle injuring three of the eight passengers.
Investigators who responded to the incident found guns in the possession of the five other passengers and arrested them.
Amora said the Philippine Army and a special unit of the Philippine National Police are now conducting a hot-pursuit operation for the arrest of three identified suspects.
Amora identified the three suspects by their aliases as “Tisoy,” “Andy” and “Tuko,” who are residents of the same town.
