The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday refuted another piece of fake news circulating on social media — this time, a graphic falsely claiming that the 12 May midterm elections had been moved to 10 May “due to intense heat.”

In an advisory, the Comelec clarified that the post did not originate from any of its official or verified social media accounts.

The poll body confirmed that the national and local elections will proceed as scheduled on 12 May, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Early voting hours for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant voters will be held from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Comelec also reminded the public that spreading false information is an election offense under Section 261(z)(11) of the Omnibus Election Code.

Last week, a similar false claim circulated online, alleging that voters would be required to present a National ID in order to vote. Comelec promptly debunked that claim as well, stating that it did not come from the agency.
