Party-list system seat-seeker H.E.L.P. Pilipinas backs the establishment of Malasakit Centers in government hospitals but vows to add more if fortunate enough to emerge in the upcoming 12 May polls.

Speaking before the media at the Manila Hotel on Monday, H.E.L.P. Pilipinas' number 1 nominee, Mildred Vitangcol, said her group represents underserved Filipinos clamoring for adequate healthcare services from the government, students looking for educational support, and those who need livelihood opportunities for a decent living.

“H stands for health, E is for education, L is for livelihood, and P is for other programs. The nominees and supporters of H.E.L.P. are Rotarians who converged to provide the much-needed aid that our needy kababayans, especially the marginalized,” said Vitangcol, a doctor by profession, humanitarian service leader and a philanthropist.

She said a seat at the House of Representatives would give her group a greater opportunity to sustainably serve the Filipino people, especially in far-flung areas.

“We know that in local health centers, there is a scarcity of medical equipment and nurses, specially doctors. It’s about time to focus on those problems. Malasakit Centers are good but it needs further backing. Kailangan madagdagan ito para marami pa ang matulungan kapus-palad nating mga kababayan,” the H.E.L.P Pilipinas first nominee said.

Also, she said she dreamed of a Philippines that has zero hunger, just like many decades ago.

“What is happening to our farmlands? Why do we continue to import rice? Our farmers need our help. They need to reskill for them to be at par with our ASEAN counterparts. I have talked to some farmers; indeed, they lack financial support. If we can fix the system, wala na po tayong kababayang magugutom,” she stressed.

According to Vitangcol, her group has a mission to assist Filipinos by conducting programs and projects that focus on health, education, and livelihood.
