Shareholders of SM Investments Corp. (SMIC) elected Marife Zamora as an independent director during the Sy-led conglomerate’s annual stockholders' meeting on Wednesday, 30 April.
Zamora succeeds Tomasa "Tammy" Lipana, who completed her term, and joins Atty. Lilly Gruba, the board’s first female independent director. SMIC continues to maintain a majority of independent directors on its board.
With decades of leadership experience in insurance, telecommunications, and business process outsourcing, Zamora is also a strong advocate for women in technology and leadership. She serves as a board member of the For The Women Foundation and co-founded the Filipina CEO Circle, a network of women business leaders.
