Authorities reported that seven employees of a bakery were found stabbed to death Tuesday morning inside their workplace in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo.
The Antipolo City Police confirmed the incident occurred at the JNB Malunggay Bakery. Local watchmen initially reported the crime around 6 a.m., and police arrived at approximately 8 a.m.
Initial investigations indicate that unidentified assailants entered the bakery while the victims were asleep. Authorities initially reported five deaths but later confirmed the toll had risen to seven. All seven victims were male.
The Rizal police provincial office disclosed that the stabbing occurred at Purok 1, Zone 8, Barangay Cupang, at approximately 7:40 a.m. They confirmed that all the victims were employees residing at the bakery and were attacked while sleeping.
As of the latest update, one suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, has surrendered to authorities. The suspect was apprehended around 9 a.m. at the Base Police, Headquarters Support Service of the Philippine National Police and is currently in police custody.
The motive behind the killings remains under investigation. Police are exploring all possible angles and the potential involvement of additional suspects.
