Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya is putting the city’s senior citizens at the heart of her campaign, promising comprehensive support, respect and care if elected in the upcoming midterm elections.
“To our lolo and lola — you will not be forgotten, ignored, or left behind,” Discaya said. “You’ve spent your lives loving, sacrificing, and supporting your families. Now it’s your turn to be cared for.”
Discaya laid out an ambitious plan to uplift the lives of Pasig’s elderly. She promised monthly cash aid for seniors who don’t receive pensions, free medicine and regular medical check-ups, wellness and activity centers to keep them healthy and engaged, free rides on select public transport routes, and home care for those who are sick or bedridden. For seniors who still want to serve or work, she’ll open employment and volunteer programs as well.
“This is not a favor — it’s recognition. It’s not just help — it’s love,” Discaya said. “With Ate Sarah in City Hall, senior citizens won’t be seen as a burden. They’ll be honored as treasures of the community.”
If elected, she plans to double the monthly allowance for senior citizens from P500 to P1,000, and raise the annual cash aid from P3,000 to P5,000.
She also plans to construct a geriatric hospital within two years, equipped with modern medical tools and specialist doctors focused on elderly care. Alongside this, she envisions a home for the aged complete with recreational spaces and amenities. Families will also receive free funeral services for their departed loved ones.
Discaya also believes in celebrating milestones early. Under her proposal, seniors will no longer have to wait until they’re 100 to receive big incentives. At age 80 and 85, seniors will receive P10,000; at age 90 and 95, they’ll receive P25,000; and at 100 years old, P50,000.
“Pasig is where it is today because of you,” she said. “Now it’s our turn to give back — with care, respect, and gratitude.”
“No senior citizen will be neglected. Because in Pasig, everyone matters.”
