The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has ramped up security at ports and tourist destinations across the country, deploying up to 17,000 personnel to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience during Holy Week.
PCG deputy spokesperson Commander Michael John Encina said the personnel, under “heightened alert” status, are conducting pre-departure inspections and safety checks at resorts.
Coast Guard Auxiliaries and K-9 units have also been deployed at Malasakit Help Desks and other key locations to reinforce security.
Encina said the PCG is working closely with local government units, municipal and city Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices, and coastal barangays to implement coordinated security measures.
“The PCG is undertaking extensive preparations to ensure the Holy Week will be safe and secure for our vacationers and tourists,” he said.
Beach resorts and recreational areas have undergone safety inspections to ensure the presence of authorized lifeguards, medical clinics, and first aid responders.
