The PHx Fashion Group proudly unveils Collection III.V, a three-month retail showcase and residency by Construction Layers at Comme Ci, Powerplant Mall, Makati City opened on 8 April.
Founded by designers Kendrick Cay and CP Garcia, this activation marks the brand’s first retail space event, bringing their distinct perspective on contemporary fashion design into an immersive retail experience. Known for their industrial design and retail backgrounds rather than traditional fashion training, Construction Layers reinterprets 1700s–1900s workwear, blending fraying, dyeing and patchwork techniques into modern, wearable pieces. Through Collection III.V, they present a reissue of their best-loved designs, tailored specifically for the Comme Ci and PHx Fashion Group audience. Though primarily a unisex brand, Construction Layers has actively explored the female form — a challenge posed by PHx Fashion Group to push their evolving design codes and market reach. Their best-selling waistcoats and bottoms are renowned for their architectural precision and structured elegance, while their versatile tops seamlessly adapt between casual and formal settings, embracing modularity and layering.
Inspired by research on French dress traditions to 1900 denim workwear, Construction Layers modernizes historical silhouettes while preserving the essence of workwear — garments that bear the personal imprints of their wearers over time. Their pieces transform through fraying, distressing and patina, creating clothing that evolves with its owner, deepening the connection between design and lived experience.
After staging events in Escolta and Intramuros, Construction Layers now brings its installation-based storytelling to Comme Ci. The designers will reshape the boutique’s space for an exclusive three-day solo pop-up, followed by a three-month residency. The three-day exclusive event will run from 8 to 10 April. Thereafter, the pieces will be available at the boutique until 8 July, 2025.
This initiative is in line with the mission of the PHx Fashion Group to foster Filipino contemporary fashion brands in both creative and business growth.
Comme Ci, a premier multi-brand boutique, continues its commitment to championing local and global talent. Hosting Collection III.V aligns with its philosophy of curating forward-thinking, culturally relevant fashion.
This collaboration is made possible through PHx Fashion Group now led by Esme Palaganas and Trickie Lopa. Through initiatives like PHx Fashion Conference (in partnership with DTI) and PHx Station (with Ayala Malls), PHx Fashion Group provides emerging Filipino designers with vital platforms for global growth.
