The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) will host a national seminar on technology-driven solutions to urban heat and climate challenges on 24 October.

Organized by the Civil Engineering Executive Organization (CEO), USER INTERFACE 2026 will carry the theme “Thermal Blueprint: Engineering Urban Sustainability and Heat Mitigation through Technology-Based Climate Innovation.”

The seminar will begin at 1 p.m. and will be held online via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The annual undergraduate seminar focuses on technological advancements in engineering, including building information modeling, infrastructure, engineering software, research and design projects.

This year’s discussions will center on urban sustainability and heat mitigation initiatives, including technology-based platforms, as cities face growing challenges from the urban heat island effect, which can increase energy demand, threaten public health and heighten climate vulnerability.

Engineering students, software developers, engineers and other interested participants from universities, institutions and businesses nationwide are invited to attend. The event is free to the public.

The seminar is part of CEO’s 26th anniversary celebration. Proceeds will support the organization’s anniversary initiatives, including an exhibit, thanksgiving Mass, Fiestambayan and an outreach program.
