The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Monday that public school teachers will be entitled to a 30-day uninterrupted break as the School Year 2024–2025 comes to an end.
In a statement by DepEd, teachers may schedule their break between 16 April to 1 June, either continuously or in staggered intervals, depending on their preference. This order also extends to teachers from the Alternative Learning System and those teaching Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education.
Learners taking mandatory summer programs will have their break outside the period of 13 May to 6 June.
During this period, teachers will be exempt from participating in Performance Management Evaluation System (PMES) activities, and they will have until the end of the first month of SY 2025–2026 to complete their Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form.
DepEd also emphasized that optional professional development programs or summer training activities will be scheduled outside of the vacation period. While this is optional, those who opt to participate will earn Vacation Service Credits on top of the 30-day leave.
“I hope they spend this time wisely, unwinding with their families and loved ones, and return to work energized for the new school year,” Education chief Sonny Angara expressed in a statement.
SY 2024–2025 will end on 15 April, with SY 2025–2026 set to commence on 16 June and run until 31 March 2026.
