Ashley Ortega is deeply grateful to “Kuya” for unexpectedly paving the way for a heartfelt reunion with her estranged mother.

Ortega’s participation in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition has led to a renewed connection with her mother, whom she hadn’t spoken to for three years.

During her guest appearance on GMA’s morning show Unang Hirit, Ortega shared that she finally received a letter from her mother. “That was just a couple of days ago. So, it’s still very fresh. I was so touched, and I didn’t expect to receive a handwritten letter from my mom,” Ortega said with visible joy.

“That was the first message I received from her, after not talking for how many years. I was surprised. After reading that message, I cried. Of course, I couldn’t stop myself. When I’m in the confession room, I didn’t realize I had so many feelings,” she added, her voice filled with emotion.

Ortega recalled her decision to leave her mother’s home, which led to their three-year period of no communication.

“It was hard for me to accept that I deserved a letter from my mom saying those words to me. Because, of course, I left her and haven’t spoken to her,” the actress explained, reflecting on the weight of their separation.

Since leaving the Pinoy Big Brother house, Ortega revealed that she had sent flowers to her mother. She expressed her desire to have enough time to process everything before arranging a meeting with her. Big Brother’s unexpected intervention has opened a door for healing and reconciliation in Ortega’s life.
