A bomb threat prompted a police search at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) campus in Ermita, Manila, Friday morning.

This comes as the Manila Police District Station 5 received a report from a TUP professor, identified as Justine Kylo Mark Orpia, that a student had received text messages warning of a bomb planted at the university’s College of Industrial Education building.

The text messages, sent from a number identified as “Dan Telyo,” warned of an explosion at 7 a.m.

Orpia presented the messages to TUP security guard Rolando Duyag, who then contacted the MPD-Explosive and Ordnance Division.

MPD-EOD personnel, accompanied by K9 bomb-sniffing dogs, immediately responded to the campus and conducted an inspection of the College of Industrial Education building.

At 8:05 a.m., the MPD-EOD team, led by PMSg. Ernesto Rivera, declared the campus clear, finding no dangerous or explosive materials.
