Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has pledged to complete the construction of the city’s new public hospital within two years if elected.

Discaya, a businesswoman and owner of a quadruple-A construction firm, said the timeline is feasible based on her firm’s ongoing projects.

“It’s very doable. We’re currently building a hospital in Manila that we started last year, and it will be completed this year. We can finish it in two years,” Discaya said during a caucus in Barangay Buting.

“Here in Pasig, we promise that the hospital will be completed in two years,” she added.

Discaya said she also plans to construct a multi-story public housing complex for homeless residents and informal settlers.

“Who here is renting? Do you want housing assistance?” she asked the crowd. “When we build public housing, we want you to remain in Pasig, not be relocated outside the city.”

As part of her “smart city” initiatives, Discaya also vowed to provide free WiFi throughout Pasig.

“Would you like free WiFi while walking around? Would you like to be able to contact us quickly? Would it be good if Team Kaya This could respond immediately to your needs?” she said.

“All processes will be faster once we become a smart city. Pasig is ready to be one,” she added.

Discaya highlighted her existing efforts to help people, both in Pasig and beyond, even without holding public office.

Through her St. Gerrard Charity Foundation, Discaya has donated tables, chairs, and tents to homeowners’ associations.

“We organized medical missions because there’s a shortage of medicine. We listened to your requests,” she said. “We conducted misting operations in certain areas because many were getting dengue. We did it even though we’re not in office.”
