Beyond the screen: Jodi Sta. Maria’s stand against fake news
Published on

Jodi Sta. Maria has expressed her willingness to participate in the ongoing Tri House Committee hearing in Congress addressing the issue of fake news.

In a recent media conference for her upcoming horror film Untold, the acclaimed actress stated that she would attend the hearing if invited, saying, "If there's anything I can contribute, if they believe my voice and what I have to say is important, then why not?"

Sta. Maria emphasized that her potential involvement stems from a sense of responsibility toward her fellow citizens. "As I said earlier, no one lives for themselves alone. We all have a responsibility to one another," she thoughtfully shared.

The actress also voiced her support for legislation against those who spread false information online. However, she stressed the crucial role of individual responsibility, reminding everyone to fact-check information before believing or sharing anything they encounter on the internet.

Tight-lipped

Meanwhile, Sta. Maria remained tight-lipped with a smile when the topic of her love life was brought up.

The actress has always been known for keeping her personal life private. However, a lighthearted moment occurred when her Untold co-star, former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, playfully revealed that Sta. Maria is currently in love. Sta. Maria simply responded with a "well" and a smile, adding to the intrigue.

On a different note, Untold marks Sta. Maria's first horror film under Regal Entertainment. Directed by Derrick Cabrido and also starring JK Labajo, Joem Bascon, and others, the movie is set to hit theaters on 30 April.
