Pausing my pen
Much like a boyfriend saying a temporary goodbye to his girlfriend for a greater purpose, I will return as the music fades, ready to reunite with you, dear readers, regardless of the outcome.

The local campaign season starts in four days. As I focus on persuading the electorate of Cebu City to vote for me in the May 12 elections, I will pause this column and resume writing after election day.
My thoughts are cluttered. I feel sad that I will miss writing down my thoughts and feelings, but I am glad to articulate them to others personally.
Words are best spoken to observe the reactions of those who receive the message immediately. The instant feedback mechanism indicates how effective local candidates are or how irritating they might be.
In today’s fast-paced communication environment, the ability to gauge reactions in real time is crucial. Instant feedback helps assess a speaker’s effectiveness and provides insights into the audience’s sentiments.
For a local candidate, this feedback loop can reveal what resonates with voters and what doesn’t, enabling them to adapt their messaging accordingly.
The immediate reactions of the audience can serve as a powerful tool for candidates to refine their positions. When a candidate delivers a message that sparks enthusiasm, it reinforces their campaign direction.
If the feedback is negative or lukewarm, the candidate can address concerns promptly and adjust their approach. I am running on a peace and order platform, highlighting my law enforcement background and government experience.
I firmly advocate for ethical business practices that prioritize the well-being and advancement of the people of Cebu. We need businesses to promote initiatives that contribute positively to the local economy, improve livelihoods, and foster sustainable development.
Conversely, I strongly oppose any practices that seek to exploit or take advantage of the community, as they undermine societal progress and the dignity of individuals.
My commitment lies in supporting businesses that thrive economically and uplift the lives of Cebuanos through fair treatment, respect for workers’ rights, and social responsibility.
By fostering a peace and order climate, we create an environment that attracts local and foreign investors. These investors are more likely to commit to developing essential business infrastructures, such as telecommunications and Internet connectivity, which are crucial services the community actively seeks.
Enhanced stability encourages investment in infrastructure and contributes to economic growth, job creation, and improved access to technology, ultimately leading to a more connected and prosperous society.
The feedback process is crucial for candidates before, during, and after the campaign period. It allows them to address concerns in their platforms immediately if they want to win. It also allows them to reflect on what the public genuinely wants them to focus on if they lose.
The dynamic interaction fosters a deeper connection between candidates and constituents. It encourages candidates to be more responsive to the needs and values of the community they aim to serve.
Direct engagement can build trust and credibility, making it easier for candidates to effectively convey their vision and policies.
Hearing, observing, and reacting to real-time feedback is invaluable for any candidate hoping to make an impact. By embracing this feedback mechanism, candidates can navigate the complexities of public perception and ultimately enhance their capability to serve their community.
Today, I am putting my pen down to spend time with the people. Much like a boyfriend saying a temporary goodbye to his girlfriend for a greater purpose, I will return as the music fades, ready to reunite with you, dear readers, regardless of the outcome.
For a better and safer Cebu City!
May God bless us all.
