Fil-Am Mikaela Bautista earns American Idol golden ticket after surprise duet

Filipino-American singer Mikaela Bautista is heading to Hollywood Week after securing a golden ticket during her audition on American Idol Season 23.

Taking to Instagram, Mikaela shared the exciting news: "Still in shock! I just got the golden ticket to Hollywood! [This is] such an incredible honor!" she wrote, expressing gratitude to American Idol judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie for believing in her potential.

Mikaela’s audition started off as a mixed bag. She received two “yes” votes from Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, but Carrie Underwood initially voted "no." However, a spontaneous duet with her father turned the moment around. Performing "The Prayer" together, their emotional harmony struck a chord with Carrie.

"Can I change my judgment? I would like to strike my previous [no], you have three yesses," Underwood said, reversing her decision and sending Mikaela through to the next round.

Now preparing for Hollywood Week, Mikaela carries with her the support of her family, friends, and fans eager to see her shine on the American Idol stage.
