A construction worker was arrested in Navotas City on Monday for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident.
The suspect, identified as alias "Ivan Lou," was apprehended by officers from the Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Navotas City Police inside a computer shop in Barangay NBBS Dagat-Dagatan during a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO).
According to PSSG Joseph Serabilla, the shooting stemmed from an alleged "drug betting" dispute, adding that there was a history of drug-related transactions between the suspect and the victim.
“We were able to confirm his involvement in the shooting incident as there was a person who testified before us,” Serabilla said.
Authorities confirmed that two suspects were involved in the shooting, but the accomplice had already been arrested.
A warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Romana Maria Melchor Lindayag-Del Rosario, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 287 of Navotas City. A bail of P200,000 was recommended.
The accused admitted he was aware of the arrest warrant but denied involvement in the shooting incident and illegal drug use.
He is currently in police custody as he awaits the court’s commitment order.
