Senatorial candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay visited Quezon Province on Monday, meeting with local officials in Tayabas and Lucena.
At the New Tayabas City Hall, Binay discussed the importance of early childhood education, citing Makati’s daycare program as a factor in the city’s strong performance in the National Achievement Test (NAT). "Maganda po yung programa namin (sa daycare) dahil yun po ang sinasabi namin na aming sikreto kung bakit mataas ang aming mga marka sa National Achievement Test," Binay said.
In Brgy. Lakawan, Tayabas, Binay reiterated her support for providing free maintenance medicines to senior citizens, a proposal she plans to push in the Senate. "Ang importante po talaga ay yung tamang pagba-budget. Marami kang pera, pero kung hindi nagagastos at napupunta sa mga bagay na walang kwenta, sayang lang din po ang pera," she said.
She also toured the Minor Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel in Tayabas before heading to Lucena City, where she met with Mayor Mark Don Alcala and Vice Mayor Roderick "Dondon" Alcala to discuss Makati's digital initiatives. During a lunch with Congressman Mark Enverga, Binay emphasized the need for quality medicines over cash assistance.
Binay also attended a daycare event in Lucena, stressing the importance of early childhood literacy and numeracy. "Importante po na ang mga bata, maliit pa lang, mahilig nang magbasa," she said.
Binay is set to visit the towns of Tiaong, Candelaria, and Sariaya to engage with local leaders and communities.
