
Pasig City mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya on Saturday denied she is related to the Eusebios, as claimed by her critics and political opponents.
“Actually, that’s traditional politics, or what people call ‘trapo,’ because people think the Eusebios were corrupt in the past,” Discaya said in an interview on the sidelines of a medical mission in Barangay Rosario.
“I’ve explained several times before that we are not related to the Eusebios,” the 48-year-old philanthropist said. The Eusebios were the dominant political family in Pasig in the recent past.
Discaya, a wealthy businesswoman who owns a quadruple-A construction company, said her true intention for running for mayor of Pasig City is to help others, not to enrich herself using public funds.
She emphasized that she has nothing else to wish for but for her family to stay healthy and for the opportunity to be an instrument of change in the lives of others.
“Any projects we will undertake have been carefully thought out. We also seek advice from the people on what projects we can do for them,” she said.
Discaya said her projects will be tailored to meet the needs of the people, not just based on her own ideas.
“Our platforms are not because we want them; they are the requests of the people, and that’s what I want to happen,” she said.
