A founding member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) on Friday declared that the massive prayer rallies in Mindanao indicate that divine intervention is already happening. He foresaw major developments unfolding in the coming days that will drastically alter the country’s political landscape.
Manny Lumanao, PDP-Laban regional president in the Caraga region, told the DAILY TRIBUNE that a series of prayer rallies in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Bislig City, Tandag, Davao, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro City, Bukidnon, and Marawi City in Mindanao, as well as in Cebu and Iloilo City, show that people are now coming out of their homes to pray and light candles for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“At dusk, people began coming out and gathering in public places to join spontaneous peace rallies,” he said.
Mayor Sara Duterte's alliance, MASADA (Mayor Sara Duterte Alliance), earlier declared that only “divine intervention” can resolve Duterte’s fate after he was successfully arrested and flown to The Hague, Netherlands, to face trial for alleged crimes against humanity.
“No amount of indignation rallies and protests can resolve the fate of Tatay Digong. Only divine intervention can change the course of the political landscape in the country,” MASADA said in a statement.
The group also noted the silence of U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) case against Duterte, saying that FPRRD is now on his own and must face the legal battle before an international tribunal.
Lumanao, for his part, earlier stated that Duterte’s arrest would backfire and trigger a “snowball effect” that could propel PDP-Laban’s nine senatorial candidates into the so-called "Magic 12."
He said people are now closely watching developments in the Netherlands.
“The arrest will backfire on the administration’s candidates,” he said.
