Singer-songwriter Noah Alejandre, best known as half of the award-winning alt-pop duo Reon, returns to the spotlight with a heartfelt new single that resonates deeply with listeners.
Following the success of his 2022 hit, “Nahuhulog Na Sa ’Yo” — which has garnered nearly 40 million streams — Alejandre takes a more introspective approach with his latest track, “Mga Kaibigan.”
A poignant reflection on the evolution of friendships over time, “Mga Kaibigan” pays tribute to the platonic relationships that naturally fade as people grow and pursue different paths. Written after Alejandre moved away from his hometown, the song captures the bittersweet reality of drifting apart from those who once played a significant role in our lives.
“It’s a song about how life naturally pulls people in different directions — not by choice, but by necessity,” the Leyte-based artist shares. “It’s a mix of nostalgia, appreciation, and the hope of reconnecting one day. I wanted it to feel personal yet relatable — something that makes people look back on their friendships with warmth rather than sadness.”
Produced by Alejandre himself, the track features a warm, mellow arrangement that mirrors the nostalgia and quiet comfort expressed in its lyrics. Departing from the themes of love that characterized his previous works, “Mga Kaibigan” delves into the certainty and wisdom that come with life’s inevitable changes.
“Compared to my past songs, ‘Mga Kaibigan’ feels more reflective and personal,” Alejandre explains. “Thematically, it’s about growth and change, whereas my previous tracks explored love and other emotions.”
Now signed under Evosound Philippines, Alejandre joins a growing roster of promising local artists, including Frank Ely. Earlier this year, he released the heartfelt folk track “Padama,” which surpassed 100,000 streams within a month.
“Mga Kaibigan” is now available on all major digital music platforms worldwide.
