City of San Fernando, Pampanga – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed two infrastructure projects that would provide ease of logistics and venue for the provinces of Pampanga and Bataan.
In the town of Lubao, the DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) inspected the newly constructed San Fernando-Lubao Road (K0085 + 660.05 – K0085 + 897) in Barangay Santa Barbara as part of the agency’s assessment on the project.
The 289.5-lineal-meter concrete pavement, completed in January 2025, enhances transportation efficiency for residents and motorists, with a canal system designed to provide irrigation, drainage, and water supply while minimizing the risk of flooding in the area.
“The project is located along the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) Lubao Campus, which will ease commuting for students. It also features 15 solar lights to ensure safe travel at night,” District Engineer Gregorio Audea, Jr. explained.
Audea added that the inspection aimed to assess the project’s effectiveness, verify its compliance with safety and operational standards, and ensure it delivers the intended benefits to the local community.
Funded under the 2024 national budget, this P21.5-million project underscores the department's commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering local progress.
In the town of Orion in Bataan, a P10.86-million, one-story multipurpose facility in 1Bataan Village was completed that will serve as a venue for community activities and gatherings. The said project has been recently completed by the DPWH Bataan 2nd DEO.
The 342-square-meter structure provides a much-needed space for various events, enhancing social interaction and community engagement among residents of the housing community, which accommodates over 6,600 families, including fire victims from the 2019 Barangay Capunitan incident and other informal settlers.
“Residents previously had to travel elsewhere to conduct or attend community activities due to the absence of facilities in their area. This project addresses that concern by providing a convenient venue within the community,” OIC - District Engineer Roland Rainier Victorino explained.
Victorino added that the facility can also host religious services, making it a versatile space for various community needs.
Funded under the 2024 national budget, the project includes comfort rooms, lighting fixtures, and adequate ventilation, ensuring a functional and accessible venue for residents.
