Bisaya Gyud (BG) Partylist nominee and former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) chairman Greco Belgica said Monday he would limit the powers of Congress if given the chance.

At the Bakit Kayo Sa Kongreso? Media Forum, Belgica criticized legislators, calling them “demigods” who use pork barrel funds, like the AKAP, AICS, and TUPAD, which the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional. He said politicians use these funds for self-promotion, undermining society’s morals.

Belgica also condemned the political dynasty system, claiming it had corrupted the original purpose of the party-list system, which was meant to represent marginalized sectors.

The BG Partylist, Belgica said, will work to uplift the Visayan people, promote local businesses, improve health services, and eliminate bureaucratic red tape. He emphasized the need for a more effective implementation of health laws.

On the ICC’s reported impending arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, Belgica said this was “fake news,” asserting that the Philippines has a functioning justice system and the ICC has no jurisdiction over the country.
