The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Friday that British Foreign Affairs Secretary David Lammy will visit the Philippines this week.
DFA spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza said Lammy will visit Manila on Saturday to meet his counterpart, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, to deepen bilateral ties between the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
“Secretary Lammy’s visit is envisioned to solidify the Enhanced Partnership between the Philippines and the United Kingdom, which was launched in 2021, through the signing of the Joint Framework of the Enhanced Partnership, and to further deepen PH-UK bilateral relations,” Daza said in a video statement.
The two foreign ministers are expected to review cooperation across various pillars of the Enhanced Partnership, such as trade and investments, defense, maritime, climate change and environment, and science and technology.
“The Foreign Ministers will exchange views and insights on regional and international issues of mutual concern, in relation to the PH-UK commitment to promote peace, stability, and a rules-based international order,” Daza said.
While in Manila, Lammy will also meet Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro. He is also scheduled to meet President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Malacañang Palace.
