Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) has become the first hospital in the Philippines to achieve accreditation under the Joint Commission International (JCI) 8th Edition Accreditation Standards.
The hospital completed its 5th accreditation survey from 17 to 21 February 2025, further affirming its commitment to high-quality healthcare.
The updated JCI standards place a stronger emphasis on patient safety and care, focusing on risk reduction, performance improvement through data, and a more patient-centered approach.
JCI surveyors conducted a comprehensive assessment of MakatiMed’s systems, procedures, and patient care protocols, praising its dedication to maintaining healthcare excellence.
MakatiMed’s interim co-president and CEO, Dr. Saturnino Javier, credited the hospital’s staff for their efforts in securing the prestigious recognition. “This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire MakatiMed community,” he said.
The accreditation highlights MakatiMed’s leadership in Philippine healthcare, setting a benchmark for other institutions in patient safety and care quality.
