Senatorial candidate and Makati Mayor Abby Binay has proposed granting incentives to companies that hire local residents to ease traffic congestion and improve local economies.
“Such a policy would create more jobs and increase local economic activity in so-called bedroom communities while addressing traffic and congestion concerns in Metro Manila,” Mayor Binay said in a statement.
The mayor explained that this would benefit areas like San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and other localities adjacent to Metro Manila, where many residents commute daily to work in the capital.
Earlier, Mayor Binay unveiled her proposal to incentivize local hiring during a campaign stop for the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas in San Jose del Monte.
“If there are jobs here, they won’t be part of the traffic. If there are jobs here, they won’t need to leave San Jose del Monte,” Mayor Binay said.
“Encourage more companies to open in the city and also incentivize those companies that hire local residents,” she added.
