Sharon Cuneta’s television career is nothing short of legendary. From her early days as a teen sensation to her current status as the Megastar, Cuneta has consistently captivated audiences with her talent, charisma and versatility.

Her journey through the ever-evolving landscape of Philippine television has solidified her position as an icon and a true force in the industry.

Cuneta’s foray into television began at a young age, co-hosting the variety show C.U.T.E. with her aunt Helen Gamboa. This marked the beginning of a long and successful relationship with the medium.

In 1986, she launched her own musical-variety show, The Sharon Cuneta Show, which became a television staple and one of the longest-running shows of its kind in the Philippines.  This show cemented her status as a household name and showcased her talent as a performer and host.

Beyond variety shows, Cuneta explored other formats, including talk shows like Sharon and reality shows like Star Power and The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition.

Her ability to connect with audiences on a personal level made her a natural fit for these formats, further demonstrating her versatility and appeal.

Cuneta’s career has also seen her take on acting roles in television series.

While primarily known for her film work, she has also graced the small screen with her presence in shows like Madam Chairman, showcasing her comedic timing and acting prowess.

Her recent role in Saving Grace, the Philippine adaptation of the Japanese drama Mother, marks her primetime series comeback.

Playing Miranda Valdez, described as the “Nanay ng Bayan,” Cuneta embodies a complex character with strength, guilt and regret.

She drew inspiration from her friend Cherie Gil for the character’s strength and presence, and from her own experiences as a mother for the emotional depth required for the role.

Cuneta has shared that the show’s theme of motherhood resonates deeply with her, drawing on her own experiences and the emotional connection she has with her children.

She also acknowledges her husband, Kiko Pangilinan, as her “saving grace,” highlighting the importance of family and personal relationships in her life.

Cuneta’s television journey has also included stints with different networks.

From her long association with ABS-CBN to her time with TV5 and her eventual return to ABS-CBN, she has demonstrated her adaptability and her ability to maintain her star power regardless of network affiliation.

Her roles as a judge and coach on shows like Your Face Sounds Familiar, The Voice Kids and The Voice Teens further solidify her position as a respected figure in the industry and a mentor to aspiring artists.

Sharon Cuneta’s television career is a testament to her enduring talent, versatility and connection with audiences.

From her early days as a teen star to her current status as the Megastar, she has consistently reinvented herself and remained relevant in the ever-changing world of television.

Her dedication to her craft and her genuine connection with her fans have made her an icon and a true legend of Philippine television.
