At least P5.1 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed during two-day eradication operations in the disputed boundary of Ilocos Sur and Benguet, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Friday.
According to PDEA, law enforcers uprooted 25,200 fully grown marijuana plants and 3,500 marijuana seedlings planted in a 3,350-square-meter area at the boundary of Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, and Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet, from 19 to 20 February.
The uprooted marijuana plants were immediately burned and destroyed on-site in compliance with Section 21 of Republic Act 9165.
The destruction process was documented and witnessed by representatives of the participating law enforcement units.
A "Certificate of Destruction" was issued, and no one was arrested during the operation.
