Makati Mayor Abby Binay announced that the city has reached 61 percent of its 2025 revenue target, with total collections at P11.77 billion as of 31 January 2025, out of the P19.33 billion goal.

According to the City Treasurer's report, business tax collections saw an 8 percent increase compared to January 2024, rising from P6.47 billion to P6.99 billion. Business taxes remain the largest source of local revenue for the city, with 62 percent of the 2025 target met.

“We are off to an excellent start this year, and we owe this largely to our business community that has been steadfast in its support and confidence in the city government throughout my term as Makati Mayor,” Mayor Binay said.

The city also saw a significant rise in reported gross sales, which totaled P2.05 trillion from January to February 20, 2025, surpassing the 2024 total of P1.87 trillion by 10 percent.

“In barely two months, gross sales of Makati businesses have surpassed their total earnings in 2024. It is really heartening to see that the local economy has fully recovered from the pandemic and is even stronger and more vibrant than ever,” Mayor Binay said.

The Business Permit and Licensing Office reported the registration of 439 new businesses, bringing in P3.35 billion in capital investments. As of February 20, 33,453 businesses had renewed their permits, with combined gross sales of over P2 trillion.

City Treasurer Jesusa Cuneta also reported a 2 percent increase in collections from local sources, rising from P11.43 billion in January 2024 to P11.61 billion in January 2025. Local revenue sources included Real Property Tax, Local Fees and Charges, and Economic Enterprises.

Makati remains one of the few local government units not reliant on national government funds, receiving P99.46 million in National Tax Allotment (NTA) and P2.47 million from Economic Zone shares in January.
