The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has so far confiscated 293 firearms and arrested 285 individuals for allegedly violating the election gun ban.

NCRPO director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin said on Monday that from 12 January to 17 February, the NCRPO conducted checkpoint operations in coordination with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Despite the heightened activity during the election season, the NCRPO has reported no election-related incidents as it stressed the effectiveness of their preventive and security measures.

Meantime, Aberin praised law enforcement for their dedication to public safety and highlighted the NCRPO’s commitment to election security, working in coordination with Comelec and other stakeholders.

The NCRPO chief urged the public to remain vigilant and report any violations, reaffirming the police agency’s focus on maintaining peace and ensuring a secure electoral process.

“The NCRPO is launching comprehensive election security measures to safeguard the integrity of the democratic process,” Aberin said. “The people should be given a safe and secure environment while exercising their right to suffrage.”

“Through proactive policing and close coordination with Comelec and other stakeholders, we will continue to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral environment across Metro Manila,” he added.
