Broadway icon Lea Salonga and her only child, Nic Chien, are set to share the stage in the upcoming Philippine production of Into the Woods.

In a social media post, the production team introduced Chien, who uses he/him pronouns, as part of the show's stellar cast. He will play the role of Jack, a young dreamer who embarks on an adventure with his beloved cow, Milky White.

"When the fun is done, he steals what he can and runs," the announcement teased, referencing lyrics from Jack’s iconic song in the musical.

Chien made his theater debut in 2017 as Alice in Matilda the Musical in the Philippines. Since then, he has continued performing, both in school productions and alongside his mother in her concerts.

Into the Woods, originally created by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim and playwright James Lapine, debuted in 1986 and has since become a beloved classic. The musical intertwines the tales of Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood, exploring their dreams, adventures, and the unforeseen consequences of their wishes.

The highly anticipated production, presented by Theatre Group Asia, is set to run this August at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.
