A deadly altercation in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, ended in tragedy when a man was fatally shot by his partner’s former lover. The suspect, who had previously been in a relationship with the victim’s live-in partner, allegedly opened fire after a tense exchange.
According to initial reports, the victim and suspect were seen speaking with the woman they both had feelings for before the situation turned violent. The suspect suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim, who tried to escape. CCTV footage captured the victim running into the street, but the assailant chased him down and fired multiple times.
The victim sustained eight gunshot wounds, leading to his death. Witnesses say the suspect had initially expressed acceptance of his ex’s new relationship, even asking that their children remain in his life. However, others suggest lingering resentment may have fueled the attack.
Authorities are now tracking down the suspect, while the victim’s family vows to pursue legal action.
