MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur — A hog raiser was killed Wednesday morning in cold blood after a gunman riddled his body with multiple bullets in Barangay Road of Barangay Patong, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.
Police identified the victim as Edmon Ronquillo y Unciano, 43 years old, farmer and a resident of Sitio Centro, Barangay Patong, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.
Suspect Maynard Torreno Jr. y Unciano, 33 years old, married, hog raiser and a resident of Sitio Centro, Barangay Patong, Magsingal, is now being hunted by the police, said Inspector Richard Pajo, chief of police.
The suspect used M-16 armalite rifle in killing the victim who is reportedly his close relative.
Police are now looking into the possibility if the suspect is a member of the gun-for-hire or one of the goons of politicians after the police recovered one more high-powered gun in his hideout in Barangay Patong.
Barangay Patong is known to be the hotbed of goons and hired killers, newsmen learned.
According to Pajo’s report, “while the victim was going to his piggery to feed his pig, the suspect/s suddenly appeared from his behind and without apparent reason therein shot the victim on different parts of his body causing fatal wounds. The victim was declared dead on the spot by the attending physician.”
Police recovered 10 empty shells of cal. 5.56 at the crime scene.
