Mikee Morada, husband of actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga, shared the heartbreaking news of their third miscarriage during his guest appearance on Toni Talks.

In the emotional interview, Morada recounted the struggles and pain he and Alex have endured in their efforts to start a family.

Morada shared that the couple’s first pregnancy ended due to a blighted ovum, a condition where no embryo develops.

Iyung first one, hindi ko naisip na possible pala magkakaroon ng miscarriage. Iyun ang super pinakamasakit kasi excited kami,” he recalled.

Despite the pain, Morada said they accepted the situation. “Napag-usapan namin, kahit paano wala pang buhay doon, hindi lang talaga time pa.”

(The first one, I didn’t think it was possible that there would be a miscarriage. That was the most painful because we were so excited. We talked about how there was no life there, it just wasn’t time yet.)

The couple then tried in vitro fertilization (IVF), but the pregnancy also ended early due to a chemical pregnancy.

Hindi siya tumuloy; hormones tumaas pero hindi umabot sa stage na malaki na or okay na,” he shared, adding that they managed to stay strong as a couple despite the setback.

(It didn't go on; hormones went up but it wasn't big enough or okay enough.)

The third pregnancy was unexpected, with Morada revealing they believed it happened naturally during their holiday trip to Singapore.

Noong una, hindi namin akalain. Wala kaming plano; IVF pa dapat, pero delayed siya, and pagtingin namin, positive,” he said.

(At first, we didn't have a plan. We had to do IVF, because she was delayed, and when we looked, it was positive.)

Although the pregnancy gave them hope, but an ultrasound revealed another blighted ovum.

Ang sabi sa amin ng doctor, ‘Nako, wala nanaman laman,’” Morada shared.

(The doctor told us, 'Oh, there's nothing left.')

However, during a second opinion the following week, they discovered a baby with a heartbeat.

Iyung first time namin narinig ang heartbeat, naiyak ako,” Morada said.

(The first time I heard the heartbeat, I cried.)

Despite their prayers and medical efforts to save the baby, the heartbeat eventually stopped.

Pagdating ng December 28, nakita namin ang embryo, pero wala na siyang heartbeat,” he shared, adding that it was the most painful loss they had experienced.

(December 28 came, we saw the embryo, but the heartbeat stopped.)

Morada praised Alex’s resilience throughout their journey, revealing that while she often appeared strong in public, she broke down in private.

“She just needed me to be there, to hold her, and to show her that I was strong for her,” he explained.

Through their shared trials, Morada said their relationship has grown deeper.

“Every experience makes our relationship stronger. Kung iisipin ko noong 2019, para lang kaming nagbabahay-bahayan, but now we’ve been through so much together,” he reflected.

(Every experience makes our relationship stronger. When I think about it in 2019, it was like we were just living in a house, but now we’ve been through so much together.)

The couple, who began dating in 2017, got engaged on 17 January 2020, and tied the knot in November 2020. They later had an intimate Christian wedding ceremony in 2021.

Despite their losses, Mikee and Alex remain hopeful, continuing to lean on each other and their faith as they navigate this challenging journey.
