  • Generations of Maryknoll and Miriam College alumni returned to their alma mater on Saturday, 5 September, for the “Blue & Golden: A Century Woven in Light” Grand Alumni Homecoming, one of the highlights of the school’s centennial celebration.

Held at the Miriam College Loyola Heights campus, the gathering brought together alumni from different generations, including this year’s jubilarian batches, for a day of reunions, performances, recognition and fellowship. The event also served as the first alumni homecoming of the school’s centennial year.

The day’s activities included the Maryknoll/Miriam College Alumni Association elections, the Blue & Golden and MMCAA Bazaar, a Holy Mass, and a gallery featuring the year’s Amazing Alumni Achievers or Triple A awardees. These were followed by the main homecoming program and an evening after-party.

The homecoming program featured “A Century in Light and Motion,” a special performance involving past and present members of the alumni association’s board. It also included the presentation of the Centennial Award for Global Leadership and Public Service to Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, the Triple A Awards, a musical feature by the Miriam College High School Glee Club, and presentations by the jubilarian batches.

This year’s jubilarians included the Diamond High School Class of 1966, Emerald College Class of 1971, Gold High School and College Classes of 1976, Sapphire High School and College Classes of 1981, Ruby High School and College Classes of 1986, Coral High School Class of 1991, Pearl High School Class of 1996 and Silver High School Class of 2001.

The centennial celebration traces Miriam College’s history to the founding of the school by the Maryknoll Sisters of New York in 1926. Formerly Maryknoll College, the institution adopted the name Miriam College in 1989. The school is marking 100 years of Maryknoll education in the Philippines throughout 2026.

Beyond the homecoming festivities, the centennial has been framed by the school and its alumni association as a transition into a new century, with the theme “Learning, Leading, and Lighting the World.” The celebration looks back on the institution’s history while highlighting the continuing role of its alumni community in carrying its values into the future.
