Top sports officials to grace PSA Awards

Ranking officials of Philippine sports pay their tribute to all top achievers of 2024 when they join in the celebration of the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night on Monday at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richard “Dickie” Bachmann teams up with Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino as they lead the local sports community in cheering the athletes, officials, and other individuals who made the year just passed truly a memorable one behind their respective exploits.

International Olympic Committee representative Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, are also expected to lend their hands in the traditional gala night co-presented by ArenaPlus, Cignal and MediaQuest.

Sports commissioners Olivia “Bong” Coo, Edward Hayco, Matthew “Fritz” Gaston, and Walter Torres are also on the list of top sports officials along with PSC executive director Paulo Francisco Tatad.

Invitations were also extended to two of the country’s top sports patrons in San Miguel Corporation president and chief executive officer Ramon Ang and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation chairman and president Manny Pangilinan.

POC first vice president Al Panlilio, secretary general Atty. Wharton Chan, and other high-ranking officers of the country’s Olympic body have also been invited together with leaders of the various national sports associations, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) chairman Ricky Vargas, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua, Premier Volleyball League president Ricky Palou, among others.

Supported by the PSC, POC, MILO, PLDT/Smart, and Senator Go, with backing from the PBA, PVL, 1-Pacman Partylist, Rain or Shine, Akari, and AcroCity, registration for the star-studded gathering starts at 5 p.m.

Program proper for the biggest PSA Awards Night ever is at 7 p.m.

The country’s oldest media organization headed by Nelson Beltran is honoring gymnast Carlos Yulo as the deserving recipient of the highly-coveted Athlete of the Year accolade for his historic performance of winning the country’s first ever Olympic double gold during the Paris Games.

Awardees,officials, and guests who failed to personally get their invitations may claim it at the registration desk of the Centennial Hall of the same venue.
