A classic ninja game returns, as Team Ninja officially announced Ninja Gaiden 4 during this year’s Xbox Developer Direct event along with its first trailer.
It has been 13 years since the last Ninja Gaiden game was released to the public and now it’s time that Team Ninja (with the help of PlatimumGames) to bring fast-paced action to the next gen consoles.
Ninja Gaiden 4 will feature the return of series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa and he is joined by a new character named Yakumo, who serves as his foil. The sequel takes place in a futuristic Tokyo overrun with monsters from another world led by the series main antagonist, The Dark Dragon.
The fourth game will introduce some new traversal mechanics, allowing players to quickly move around with the help of wires and rails. Combat is promised to be as fast-paced and hectic as the prior entries as Yakumo uses NUE style, a devastating, blood-bound technique capable of taking down hordes of enemies. This new combat system introduces fresh attacks never before seen in the Ninja Gaiden series, allowing players to unleash hell on everyone.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is expected to release in fall 2025 for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Team Ninja also dropped Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, a remake of the series' second game, and is now available now in PC and consoles.
