After many years of waiting, gamers around the world can finally get their hands on the new Nintendo Switch 2 this year.
An innovative console that first came out in 2017, the Nintendo Switch is a unique gaming system that allows players to use the device on a handheld or connect it to a television.
Eight years later, however, the Switch became outdated as competitors such as Sony PlayStation and Xbox released new consoles.
The Japanese company also revealed that the console is backward compatible, meaning old Switch games can be played on the new system.
Despite the much-awaited reveal, the two-minute long first-look trailer for the upcoming Switch seemingly failed to impress as Nintendo's shares dropped Friday morning.
According to AFP, Nintendo shares were down 5.67 percent at 9,046.00 yen or $58.28 in Tokyo, having earlier fallen more than six percent.
Nintendo has yet to reveal the full specs of the Switch 2, and more details will be released in the coming months.
