PlayStation’s server status webpage continues to report ongoing issues nearly 20 hours after the network went offline on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time). Frustrated gamers have taken to social media to criticize the company for offering little explanation. Some players report that service has returned but remains unstable as of approximately 3:30 AM Philippine Time on Sunday.
Social media platforms, including Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), have been flooded with complaints from gamers unable to access online services. Many lamented the prolonged downtime, with some speculating about potential cyberattacks.
A user on X wrote, “PSN down on a Friday night is criminal.”
Another frustrated player posted, “Me waking up thinking the PlayStation Servers will be back up after I go to sleep just to see PSN SERVERS IS STILL [EXPLETIVE] DOWN AFTER 14 HOURS!?”
On Reddit, one user speculated, “Absolutely has to be a hack. It's been almost 4 hours at this point. Out of nowhere with zero warning or heads up to any of the player base.”
For some users, yes, but not for everyone. According to reports on the PlayStation subreddit, the outage remains inconsistent. While some players have regained access, others continue to experience connection issues. The timing of the outage has only added to the frustration, as this weekend marks the release of a beta version of Monster Hunter Wild and a double XP event in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The cause of the outage remains unclear. PlayStation and its parent company, Sony, have yet to provide an official statement, further fueling gamers’ frustration. One of the top-voted comments on Reddit’s outage megathread reads, “Don’t understand how there’s no follow-up on their part. Say something at least.”
Several popular titles reliant on PlayStation’s servers have been impacted. Reports of downtime for Fortnite, Call of Duty, Roblox, and Marvel Rivals surged on DownDetector around the same time PlayStation’s servers went offline.
This outage has already surpassed the length of the previous major PlayStation Network disruption in October, which lasted approximately nine hours. With no official timeline for resolution, gamers remain on edge, waiting for updates from Sony.
As the situation unfolds, affected players hope for both a swift resolution and more transparency from PlayStation regarding the nature of the issue.
