President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated US President Donald Trump after he took the oath of office on Monday (Tuesday, Philippine time).
“Congratulations to POTUS @realdonaldtrump and to the American people on another peaceful transfer of power in their nation’s nearly 250-year history,” Marcos wrote on social media.
He expressed eagerness to work closely with the returning American leader and his administration, emphasizing the strong alliance between the two countries.
“The strong and lasting PH-US alliance will continue to uphold our shared vision of prosperity and security in the region,” Marcos added.
In November 2024, Marcos spoke with Trump following his victory in the US presidential election, during which Marcos expressed his desire to further strengthen US-Philippine ties under the new administration.
