Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental — The Catholic night in this town, held Monday, signaled the opening of the 6th Cantago Festival, celebrated in gratitude to Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, the town's patroness, from 20 January to 1 February.
During the event, members of Women’s for Christ, Catholic Women’s League, Couples for Christ, Singles for Christ, Youth for Christ, Parish Youth Coordinating Council, Kids for Christ, and other groups performed.
The performances centered on themes of love, nature, and youth, emphasizing their importance in faith and community life.
The celebration is also part of a program to alleviate hardships in the province, in line with the SDPI Program and the PAGLAUM Development Agenda spearheaded by Governor Peter "Sr. Pedro" Unabia, particularly focusing on the "P" for Participatory Governance.
Tagoloan Mayor Nadya Emano, Councilor Panlalawigan BM Saysay Emano, members of the town council, and other distinguished guests actively participated in the event.
CANTAGO, short for "CANdelaria sa TAGOloan," is a religious festival and a thanksgiving celebration in honor of the Lord through the intercession of Nuestra Señora María de la Candelaria, also known as Our Lady of the Candles.
