Eight informants shared P1.6 million in reward money from the Philippine National Police (PNP) for providing crucial information that led to the arrest of nine of the country’s most wanted criminals.
A simple ceremony was held on Friday at Camp Crame, where PNP Directorate for Intelligence Chief Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque handed over the reward money to the tipsters.
For their privacy and safety, the identities and faces of the informants were not disclosed.
According to Obinque, some of the arrested individuals, who had long evaded the law, were wanted for serious crimes such as murder, rape, and homicide.
PNP chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the importance of community-police cooperation and expressed gratitude to the public for their continuous support.
The reward money serves as both an incentive and a strategy to apprehend wanted persons, he added.
