Star Music releases Regine Velasquez’s 'Wherever You Are' MV with JM Ibarra and Sofia Smith

Star Music Philippines officially premiered the highly anticipated music video for Regine Velasquez’s rendition of South Border’s timeless hit, “Wherever You Are,” on Wednesday.

The video stars Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 alumni JM Ibarra and Sofia “Fyang” Smith, marking their first on-screen collaboration since their unforgettable stint on the reality show in 2024.

During a press conference for her upcoming concert, Reset, held in Makati City last Tuesday, Velasquez explained why she chose Ibarra and Smith to headline the music video.

“I didn’t want to be in the video, just my voice. The theme is parang The Little Mermaid, ’di na bagay. I wanted the story to be about them with my voice in the background,” she shared.

Velasquez, who also conceptualized the video, expressed pride in the final product. “I’m so proud and kilig. What I had in mind, they executed perfectly. Conceptualizing a video is hard, especially when you hand it off for interpretation. Normally, I’d ask for changes, but with this, there was nothing to fix. They nailed it, even the feel and look,” she explained.

Wherever You Are is part of Velasquez’s Reginified album, released in late 2024. The album reimagines classic Filipino songs, giving them a fresh twist for a new generation of listeners.
