Filipino actress Liza Soberano took to social media on 9 January to confirm her safety amid the raging wildfires in Los Angeles.

“Thank you to everyone who checked in on me,” Soberano wrote in an Instagram Story, alongside a photo of the fires. “I’m okay.” She clarified that she is not currently in Los Angeles but expressed deep concern for those affected by the disaster.

“My heart goes out to all of my friends in LA. Praying for everyone’s safety,” she added, encouraging prayers for the victims of the devastating wildfires.

The Los Angeles wildfires have wreaked havoc, destroying hundreds of homes in areas like Pacific Palisades, known for its multimillion-dollar celebrity residences, and Altadena, to the east.

Fueled by hurricane-force winds, the fires have displaced tens of thousands, including actors, musicians, and other notable personalities such as Filipino artist Inigo Pascual.

Hollywood events have also been affected, with major gatherings like the Critics Choice Awards gala postponed from 12 to 26 January. The wildfires also forced the cancellation of a Pamela Anderson film premiere.
